National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution funded by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various aspects of plant genomics. The Institute is also in the process of establishing a NIPGR Translational Centre at Biotech Science Cluster, NCR, Faridabad. NIPGR invites applications from Indian Citizens for filling up the vacant posts on Direct Recruitment basis, as detailed below. The posts are temporary but likely to continue.

A.        Technical  

The areas of  desirable experience include Computation (software, hardware and data management); IPR Mapping & Patent Analysis; Instrument Maintenance; General Care; Central Instrumentation Facility; Molecular Biology (experimental work); Plant Breeding, Phenotyping & Field Work; Plant Growth Facility etc.

  • These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowances, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible to the Central Government employees and as made applicable in NIPGR.  The Pay Bands and Grade Pay mentioned above are as per the pay structure of VIth Pay Commission of the Government of India.  NIPGR is in process of implementing the revised Pay Structure as per VII Pay Commission of the Government of India for its employees.  Other benefits including NPS, Medical Reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Leave Encashment, Gratuity etc. are admissible as per rules of the Institute.

  • All applicants must fulfill the requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as on the last date of the receipt of application.  They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the qualifications laid down for various posts as on the last date of receipt of the application.  No enquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained.  The prescribed qualifications are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be shortlisted.  The Screening Committee may adopt its own criteria for shortlisting the candidates, based on number of applications received and functional requirements of the Institute.  Decision of the Director, NIPGR in this regard will be final and no correspondence or personal enquiries will be entertained by NIPGR in this behalf.  The candidates should therefore, mention in the application all the qualifications and experience in the relevant area over and above the prescribed qualifications.

  • NIPGR reserves the right to relax age limit, experience, other requirements and any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee. Other things being equal, persons having experience of work in Teaching/Research Institutions will be given preference.

  • The prescribed qualifications should have been obtained through recognized Boards/Universities/Institutions etc.

  • The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for that post.

  • Those working in Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies should apply through proper channel or produce 'NOC' at the time of attending written/practical/skill test, group discussions.

  • No TA will be paid for attending written/practical/skill test, group discussions.

  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH & other reserved categories will be as per Government of India norms. Relaxation for reserved categories shall be as per Government of India norms.  Candidates belonging to reserved category must submit the relevant certificate along with their application.

Position for Junior Research fellow (JRF) under Dr. Ananda K. Sarkar October 12, 2016

Inviting applications for Short-Term Research Fellowship

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up one position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Institute with Dr. Ananda K. Sarkar, Scientist, NIPGR, in the scheme of “Short-Term Research Fellowship” programme. The position is completely on temporary basis with maximum duration of three years. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, which can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority.

Qualification: Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech. degree in Life Science/Biotechnology with at least 60% (or equivalent) marks. One year of post M.Sc./M.Tech. research experience in the area of plant tissue culture in rice research is desirable.

The Fellowship amount for the position will be given at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST.
NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Position for Research Associate (RA) under Dr. Senthil Kumar Muthappa October 12, 2016

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up one position of Research Associate (RA) in the Institute with Dr. Senthil Kumar Muthappa, Scientist, NIPGR, in the scheme of “Short-Term Research Fellowship” programme. The position is completely on temporary basis with maximum duration of three years. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, which can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority.

Qualification: Candidates having a Ph. D. in Plant Molecular Biology/Plant Physiology/Plant Pathology/Plant Breeding & Genetics and strong publication record can apply.  The candidate is expected to have experience in the area of plant-pathogen interaction and handling of large scale cDNA library construction, virus-induced gene silencing or related functional genomics tools to dissect plant defense responses. The project’s aim is to be ‘understanding wilt disease resistance mechanisms and Ralstonia solanacearum-drought stress interaction tomato’ and any other research work as per mandate of the Institute.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of one Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the DBT Part-B Sub-project-2 entitled “Transcriptome and small RNA diversity analysis of developing seed contrasting rice varieties” of Seed Biology under the supervision of Dr. Pinky Agarwal, Scientist, NIPGR. 

Senior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project

Qualification: Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech. degree or equivalent (with minimum 60% marks) in Bioinformatics with a minimum of two years of post M.Sc./M.Tech research experience are eligible to apply.

The position is purely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended/curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Position for Junior Research Fellow under Dr. Jyothilakshmi Vadassery September 30, 2016

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of two Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the DST-MPG project entitled “Calcium regulated plant defense strategies upon insect pest attack” under the supervision of Dr. Jyothilakshmi Vadassery, Scientist, NIPGR. The project objectives are to understand how plants sense insect attack rapidly using Ca2+.

Junior Research Fellow (two posts): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project

Qualification: Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech. degree or equivalent (first division or equivalent) in Life Science/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Ecology/Agriculture or any other related field duly supported with research work are eligible to apply. The candidates having prior work experience in Arabidopsis, biotic stress related research in Arabidopsis or plant –insect herbivory are desirable.

The positions are purely temporary and are co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended/curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority.
