Essential Qualification:

Traineeship: Candidate having B.Tech or Master Degree or equivalent in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology with strong interest in Computational Biology and First class/ division throughout academic career may apply.

Studentship: Students currently pursuing the final year of B.Tech or Masters Degree or equivalent in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology, requiring a thesis as a necessary pre-requisite for completion of respective degree and First class/ division throughout academic career may apply.

Desirable Qualification: Proficiency in Coding Algorithms and Bioinformatics Applications, evidenced by short trainings or computing courses.

The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the tenure of the training period as mentioned above. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above fellowship depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservations shall be as per Govt. of India norms. National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution funded by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various aspects of plant genomics.   • These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowances, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible to the Central Government employees and as made applicable in NIPGR.  The Pay Bands and Grade Pay mentioned above are as per the pay structure of VIth Pay Commission of the Government of India.  NIPGR is in process of implementing the revised Pay Structure as per VII Pay Commission of the Government of India for its employees.  Other benefits including NPS, Medical Reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Leave Encashment, Gratuity etc. are admissible as per rules of the Institute.

National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution funded by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various aspects of plant genomics. The Institute is also in the process of establishing a NIPGR Translational Centre at Biotech Science Cluster, NCR, Faridabad. A.        Staff Scientists 

Specialization: Applicant should have a Ph.D. with excellent academic credentials along with the track record of scientific productivity evidenced by publications/patents/products in the frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, Computational Biology, Genome Analysis and Molecular Mapping, Molecular Mechanism of Abiotic Stress Responses, Nutritional Genomics, Plant Development and Architecture, Plant Immunity, Molecular Breeding, Transgenics for crop improvement and other emerging areas based on plant genomics.

Remuneration: The length of experience and scientific accomplishments/quality of scientific productivity record will be major factors in deciding the level of appointment as Staff Scientist as well as starting salary in the Pay Bands of 15,600-39,100 (with grade pay of 5400), and 37,400-67,000 (with grade pay of 8,700 and 8,900) plus usual allowances admissible to the Central Government employees. However, NIPGR reserves the right to select candidates in the lower grade against the foregoing posts depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of two Research Associate (RA) and two Senior Research Fellow (SRF) under the supervision of Prof. Asis Datta, Distinguished Emeritus Scientist, NIPGR in DBT and CSIR research projects, detailed as under:

(1)        DBT research project entitled “Biotechnological approaches to improve nutritional and post- harvest quality, drought tolerance and pathogen resistance in edible crops". (02 post of RA and 01 posts of SRF)

(2)        CSIR project entitled “Regulatory dynamics of N- acetylglucosamine metabolism in model fungal pathogen, Candida albicans". (01 SRF) (CSIR project to be implemented w.e.f. 01/10/2015).
 
Senior Research Fellow: Emoluments as per project sanction & DBT/CSIR norms.
Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech degree (with minimum of 60% marks) or equivalent in Life Sciences/Biotechnology with minimum of two years of post M.Sc/M.Tech research experience in Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory are eligible to apply. The candidature must be supported with published research papers in standard refreed journals.

Research Associate: Emoluments as per project sanction & DBT/CSIR norms.
Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences are eligible to apply. Candidates having experience in the area of Plant Molecular Biology and Plant Biochemistry is highly desirable. The candidature must be supported with 2-3 published research papers in standard refreed journals.

The positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be up to February 29, 2016, which can be curtailed/extended based on candidate’s performance, norms of the Institute and discretion of the Competent Authority. Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech degree in any subject of Life Sciences are eligible to apply. Candidate should have first class/division throughout academic career. Prior research experience in the area of plant molecular biology is desirable.

(B) Research Associate (two posts): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms, as sanctioned in the project & as per NIPGR Short-Term Research Fellowship norms
Candidates having Ph.D. degree (awarded) in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology or any other related field are eligible to apply. The candidate should have a good academic record and research experience. At least 5 publications in peer-reviewed international journals with JCR impact factor are desirable. Candidate having research experience in the area of advanced molecular biology, genomics, transcriptomics and in silico data analysis will be given preference.

(C) Junior Research Fellow (two posts): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project
Candidates having M.Sc. (with NET qualification) / M.Tech (with or without NET) degree (with minimum 55% marks) in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Molecular Biology or any other related field are eligible to apply. Candidates having computer skills (Linux, Perl, Java, MySQL) with experience in NGS and/or advanced molecular biology techniques is desired.

(D) Senior Research Fellow (two post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project

The candidate is expected to have experience in ‘identification and functional characterization of genes involved in combined biotic (e.g. bacterial pathogen) and abiotic stress (e.g. drought stress) tolerance in a model and a crop plant’. Research programme may involve use of bioinformatics tools, large scale transcriptome profiling, forward genetic screening using virus-induced gene silencing or miRNA-induced gene silencing and any other research work as assigned by the PI
